Build your student

Public test

Live the student life, not just the lectures.

CAMPUS 101 is a student life game we are building: a shared 3D campus you walk with other students, right in your browser. Three campuses are open: OAU in Ile-Ife, UNILAG in Lagos and UI in Ibadan.

Pick your school. Live the life.

The first public test is open. Play it, and tap Report a bug when something breaks.

01Walk the campus

A campus you can walk, not a menu of places.

Three real campuses and the towns outside their gates, walked with other students in real time. The video at the top is the game itself; the scenes below are the early concept renders that set its look.

02Make it yours

Your bunk, your rules. Mostly.

  1. Design your hostel room or flat

Place a bed, a desk, a lamp and posters. Taste counts for more than size.

  2. Friends can visit

Real friends drop by, sign the guest book and see what you have made.

  3. The porter may inspect

Inspection week comes with a warning. Some things are not allowed in hall.

03Meet your student

Pick a look, then make it yours.

Start from one of twelve ready made looks, then change hair, clothes, colours, body shape and face. Your student walks, runs and sits in the game, and other players see the look you chose. Hands, cloth and hair keep getting better.

04Real campus, real buildings

The landmarks students actually know.

Over a hundred landmarks across OAU, UNILAG and UI, modelled from public photographs and OpenStreetMap outlines. Pick a school below and turn a few of them. They are close, not exact: heights are estimated and the backs of buildings are partly guessed.

The six sided assembly hall with its tall portal, louvres and the big mural wall.

05Live with the consequences

Every choice costs something.

Money, school, friends and rules all pull on each other, and all of it is in the game today. The pictures are concept renders.

  • Concept render: a row of student stalls for printing, thrift and braiding, with a shift card on screen.Concept render

    Money and hustles

Type a project report, braid hair, tutor a coursemate or rent a stall of your own. Every shift pays, costs Rest and can clash with a lecture. Save up for a used car. Only honest work.

    Hustles, a stall, a car
  • Concept render: the porter at a hall gate at night, with a card showing the risk of bringing a guest in.Concept render

    The hall porter

Visitors out by nine is a house rule of our invented Ireti Hall. You see the risk before you choose, and you cannot bribe the porter.

    Risk: Low, Medium, High
  • Concept render: a hearing room with a panel at a table and two students standing before it.Concept render

    Discipline and the hearing

Get caught too often and a letter arrives. Bring a helper and true entries from your record. You cannot make up an alibi.

    Warning, fine, suspension
  • Concept render: a football match on a campus pitch at dusk.Concept render

    Sports and parties

Train at the Main Bowl, play for your faculty in Sports Week, and catch the Friday match, the Saturday jam or drama night with everyone online. Nights out are 18+.

    Live every week

06Where we are

Early, and honest about it.

The game is in its public test. Here is what is built, what is new, and what we still have to get right.

  1. Done

    Concept and Phase 0

The plan and research, the concept scenes, and the tests on real phones: a walkable campus, a light mode for cheap phones, the online connection and the room editor.

  2. Done

    First public test

OAU in Ile-Ife opened to everyone: your hall and room, lectures and tests, hustles, the porter, friends and the story in Chat.

  3. Done

    Three campuses

UNILAG in Lagos and UI in Ibadan opened beside OAU: each with its own halls, lecture halls, courses and people, and a town outside the gate in 3D with flats to rent. You can visit the other campuses.

  4. Now

    A fuller student life

Night falls on campus, a car of your own, sports and the faculty match, the Saturday jam and live events, a stall of your own, a guest book for visitors, and the full road from the Entry Exam to a PhD or a lecturer job.

  5. Next

    Still to come

Photos of some buildings we have only guessed at, insides checked by students who know them, and our numbers (rents, fines, fees) confirmed with advisers at each school.
